OUR MISSION

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
                                                                                                         –Maya Angelou

Our Mission:
Our mission at Friendly Flash Fiction is to support the Bay Area community and communities across the country by providing a creative outlet for children ages 7-14. As teachers scramble to set up curriculums during the national crisis, this program provides a fun and easy way to continue practicing self-expression and grammar skills, while developing innovative and exciting fictional storylines. Furthermore, Friendly Flash Fiction will continue after the lockdown, continuing to give fun writing lessons to kids in our communities. This program is ultimately made to support our neighbors and friends in the fight against Covid-19, and all proceeds from this organization go directly to the UCSF Coronavirus Response Fund.

Our Charity:
All funds from Friendly Flash Fiction go to the UCSF Coronavirus Response fund, which supplies hospitals around the Bay Area with the equipment and healthcare salaries they need to fight the novel Coronavirus. More specifically, when you pay for a lesson at Friendly Flash Fiction your money goes to:
  • expanding diagnostic and testing capacity for Bay Area hospitals.
  • securing UCSF's ability to cover extended staff time and benefits for health care providers working directly on the crisis.
  • addressing expenses of exposed patients who are not covered by insurance.
  • ensuring necessary housing for patients and equipment for health care workers.
