1. How do I schedule lessons for my child?
a) First, click on the "lessons" tab above–you will be redirected to PickTime.
b) Then read through the PickTime message, then click on the "lesson" button under "our services." c) Select a teacher with whom you would like to work (you can read about each teacher on the "our teachers" page under the "about" section). d) Finally, choose your time by selecting a day, and the teacher's available time slots will appear in boxes below. Select a time slot and book your lesson! Your tutor should email you links to a Zoom and google document within a day before your lesson. 2. How can I reschedule an appointment? What is the cancellation policy?
Rescheduling or cancelling appointments must be done at least 24 hours in advance. Please understand that our teachers structure their days around these lessons while balancing their time with standardized test study and homework. Be sure to mark your calendar. If you have trouble rescheduling/cancelling, contact [email protected]
3. How are lessons conducted?
Each 30 minute one-on-one Zoom lesson starts with 1-5 minutes of brainstorming, wherein the teacher comes up with a prompt for the child and the child hashes out a story idea. Then, the child writes their story for 10-15 minutes with the help of the teacher. Lastly, the teacher reviews the child's writing for plot development and grammar for the remaining amount of time.
4. How does payment work?
We ask that you make a donation of $20 for each 30 minute lesson, and payments over $20 are greatly appreciated. However, we operate on a "pay what you can" basis, so you can donate to our GoFundMe what you think our service is worth.
